Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.Howard Thurman
You have both a right and responsibility to reach your full potential. But how? We invite you to discover how both character strengths and constructive dialogue can enable you to flourish.
Our approach builds on the research on character strengths by the VIA Institute on Character. Please watch the short video below introducing The Science of Character and the profound impact developing them can have. If you want to discover your character strengths, take the free 15-minute VIA Survey.
Each of us has the life-enhancing capacity to develop our character strengths as a path to reaching our full potential and serving our divided world more actively, joyfully and skilfully. A simple action which can powerfully nourish our character strengths and virtues such as humanity, wisdom and courage is dialogue. How does this work?
Crossing Borders Education works to facilitate dialogue processes conceptualized in three stages that continuously return to and build on each other.
This model is grounded in the experience that dialogue is not a fixed skill set we learn once (e.g. riding a bicycle), but rather it is a life skill set that needs constant practice (e.g. living caring relationships).
This slide deck explores the three stages we aim to co-create in our dialogues.
Below is a brief overview of the stages, virtues and character strengths we intentionally develop when we dialogue.
