Welcome! We are delighted that you are exploring intercultural communication with us.
Our Intercultural Communication Course supports those of you who are or will be in contact with or immersed in cultures other than your own. It teaches intercultural skills that make it easier to leave your comfort zone and learn to interact more openly, skilfully and constructively with others. The course contains engaging film clips, slide shows and small group dialogue activities.
The specific intercultural skills strengthened by this course are:
- critical thinking, curiosity, empathy, cultural self-awareness,
- cross-cultural skills, ability to relate to other perspectives, cognitive flexibility,
- intercultural communication, active listening, intentional speaking,
- civic engagement, open mindedness, and problem solving skills.
These skills are important in educational, business and civic contexts for: community dialogue, diversity & inclusion activities, teacher trainings, student affairs, study abroad, academic and other courses that include these.
This course can build on Screening Discussion Events around our intercultural documentaries, set in Morocco, China and the USA from which many of the film excerpts are taken, can be a stand-alone course, or parts of it may be incorporated into classes, workshops or training programs.
